An intergenerational residence and landscape for a young family that offers both a connection to the riverine landscape and a sanctuary for family life.
Designed concurrently with the landscape, the residence’s careful siting provides riverine vistas and a layered entry arrival of cascading steps, landings and plantings.
A central lobby provides a dual aspect aperture to experience both the riverine landscape of Banksia and Marri trees and the house’s water elements of koi pond and pool. Flanked to both sides and connected by a sky bridge above, the residence’s wings allow for a distinction of program and experiences to the interiors and gardens.  Upper floors reveal a more panoramic relationship to the river. Diverse family activity and Lego collections celebrated.
Stone and concrete anchor the landscapes and buildings to the site. Daylighting is consciously baffled, with natural tones reflected in the oak floors and ceiling.  White filigree metal work threads through the interiors and exteriors. Shimmering reflections from the ponds appear as daily moments. Fragrance from perfumed trees waft as reminders of cultural memories and springtime.
