A four-storey multi-residential, mixed-use development introduces a new typology to the suburban area and restores a neglected site and heritage corner store. Dual-aspect, naturally ventilated apartments. Architects and landscape architects in collaboration with MJA Studio.
A fresh, contemporary interpretation of the heritage character of the neighbourhood, the building’s gabled forms and red brick palette echo Federation houses in the area, while its four-storey elevation reflects the scale of a nearby church. Sculptural forms provide rhythmic variation along Clifton Crescent’s streetscape, while Central Avenue relaxes into a garden setting. Greenery flourishes from planters embedded in and around the building, and a landscaped setback buffers the neighbours and provides a mature tree canopy. Inside, apartments are light and spacious with high ceilings and glazing to terraces.
