An introverted house for extroverted clients who enjoy a social, surfside lifestyle. A robust, epic and cost-effective design and build. On an undulating coastal site, with low-maintenance, resilient materials and soft, endemic planting.
Sculpted brick and reeded concrete present a solid, resilient façade to the coastal conditions, embedded in the landscape, with eucalyptus trees swaying in the wind. Inside, raw concrete and cream brick forms a calm, communal and protected sanctuary, warmed and softened by diffused light and permeated with the breeze. The central void rises three storeys, with bridges and stairs connecting split levels and culminating in a rooftop deck. Behind the house, walls and hedging buffer the swimming pool, creating a secluded setting.
