Landscape consultancy for Silver Thomas Hanley to develop the landscape around and within the new hospital facility, enhancing the sense of pride and place associated with the community building. Consolidated and established a variety of landscaped spaces for clarity of circulation, and rest and rehabilitation. Consideration of pragmatic elements including maintenance, surveillance, security, access and fire separation.
The landscape around Narrogin Hospital’s prominent entrance canopy provides a welcoming, legible entry that gives clarity to the circulation and movement of pedestrians, traffic and ambulances. Consolidating existing gardens has enhanced their impact, and the sensitive relocation of a memorial rose garden to the front of a 1940s hospital building beautifies the streetscape with a meaningful heritage area. Outdoor spaces designed for remediation and rehabilitation feature native Western Australia plants and are shaded by trees with generous canopies. Courtyards offer a garden aspect and shaded amenity for staff, patients and visitors. Trees and built structures give significance to the spaces while ensuring privacy into the hospital interior.
